ATLANTA, Ga. – The Great South Athletics Conference announced the fall sports Players of the Week for all contests played September 8 - 14 and, following voting by the league sports information directors, Ashley Whiteshield of Pine Manor claimed Volleyball Player of the Week.

Pine Manor 's first-year setter from Seward, Alaska enjoyed an outstanding week as she helped lead the Gators to a 2-1 record. Whiteshield collected a team-high nine assists and seven digs in a Tuesday night defeat at Lesley before leading the Gators to a pair of victories in a doubleheader versus Mass. Maritime on Saturday. In match one, she dished out 20 assists and tallied 8 service aces and pair of digs in a 3-0 victory. She followed that up with a 23 assist, 10 service ace performance in another 3-0 victory. Whiteshield finished the week with 52 assists, 19 service aces, 17 digs and five kills.
The GSAC sports information directors nominate Player of the Week candidates and then vote on the top two nominees in each sport as selected by the conference office. Player of the Week voting occurs on Tuesdays and the weekly announcement of the winners is released each Wednesday morning.
