ATLANTA - The Great South Athletic Conference announced the spring sports Players of the Week for contests played April 4 – 10 and, after voting by the league sports information directors, the Scotties' Camille Wilson secured the Tennis Player of the Week accolade.
GSAC Tennis Player of the Week – Camille Wilson of Agnes Scott
During a 2-0 week for the Scotties in GSAC Play, Wilson (pictured at right) was dominant, going 4-0 in overwhelming victories over Wesleyan and Salem. Against Wesleyan, Wilson downed Rebecca Cheng in singles, 6-1, 6-0 and paired with Nikki Langford to take out Keondria Epps and Centara Nulf, 8-1. In the Scotties' 8-1 win over Salem, Wilson went 2-0 again, taking out Priscilla Solis, 6-0, 6-1 and also winning in doubles with Langford, as they overwhelmed Solis and Deanna Wilkins, 8-1. She is now 6-0 in conference play this season.
The GSAC sports information directors nominate Player of the Week candidates and then vote on the top two nominees in each sport as selected by the conference office. Player of the Week voting occurs on Tuesdays and the weekly announcement of the winners is released each Wednesday morning.
