ATLANTA, Ga. – The Great South Athletic Conference announced the winter sports Player of the Week for all contests played December 1 - 7 and, following voting by the league sports information directors, Blessing Hayes of Trinity Washington claimed the weekly honor.

Sophomore Blessing Hayes had a great week for the Tigers to propel them to a 2-1 overall record. In a narrow 5-point loss, Hayes tallied 17 points, 16 rebounds, and two assists against PSU Mont Alto. Then she garnered eight points, nine rebounds, seven assists, and four steals for Trinity in their runaway win over Bryn Mawr. At the Gallaudet Tournament, Hayes posted 18 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 steals against Valley Forge to earn her a spot on the All-Tournament Team. For the week she averaged 14.3 points, 12.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.6 steals per game.

The GSAC sports information directors nominate Player of the Week candidates and then vote on the top two nominees in each sport as selected by the conference office. Player of the Week voting occurs on Tuesdays and the weekly announcement of the winners is released each Wednesday morning.
