ATLANTA, Ga. - The Great South Athletic Conference announced the winter sports week two Player of the Week on Wednesday morning and women's basketball player Ellen Bethea (pictured) of Trinity Washington was selected as the winner through exclusive voting by the league sports information directors.
Week 2 Basketball Player of the Week – senior guard Ellen Bethea of Trinity Washington
Bethea led the Tigers to two wins in taking her team to 2-0 to start season. In two games last week she tallied 35 points with a .467 field goal percentage. She added 12 rebounds, 9 assists and 11 steals to her impressive stat line. For the week, she averaged 17.5 points per game, 6 rebounds per game, 4.5 assists per game and 5.5 steals per game as she becomes the first student-athlete from Trinity Washington to receive GSAC Player of the Week honors.
The GSAC sports information directors nominate Player of the Week candidates and then vote on the top two nominees in each sport as selected by the conference office. Player of the Week voting occurs on Tuesdays and the weekly announcement of the winners is released each Wednesday morning.
