ATLANTA, Ga. - The Great South
Athletic Conference announced the winter sports week thirteen
Player of the Week on Wednesday morning and women’s
basketball player Genefine Sapateh of Agnes Scott was selected as
the winner through exclusive voting by the league sports
Week 13 Basketball Player of the Week – senior guard Genefine Sapateh of Agnes Scott College
In two wins this week Sapateh averaged 19.5 points per game and 10.5 rebounds per game. She had a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds in a crucial 58-53 win over Huntingdon College on Tuesday and on Saturday got her third double-double in a row with 20 points and 12 rebounds in a 73-26 win over Wesleyan College. The Scotties currently sit atop the GSAC standings.
The GSAC sports information directors nominate Player of the Week candidates and then vote on the top two nominees in each sport as selected by the conference office. Player of the Week voting occurs on Tuesdays and the weekly announcement of the winners is released each Wednesday morning.
