MACON, Ga. - The Agnes Scott College softball team concluded their surprise run in the Great South Athletic Conference tournament in style, dominating host and #2 seed Wesleyan College (Ga.), 6-0, to advance to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament for the second time in three years.

"We have had the tools all season to put together a run like this," commented head coach Talya DiGirolamo, "and I am proud of the way that a team full of young players were able to come together and put together a team effort this weekend."

In the final, the Scotties (10-27) relied on starting pitcher Molly Baker, who once again pitched a gem, going 6 innings and allowing only 2 hits.  Kayla Quesenberry came in for the Scotties in the seventh, and retired all three batters she faced, sealing the win for the Scotties when Alyssa Flowers of the Wolves (13-31) flew out to Kayla Trumbull at second base.

On the offensive side, Kristin Root made sure the Scotties got on the board quickly, lacing a single that scored Trumbull and Jessica Costero in the first inning.  The Scotties would tack on 4 more runs in the 3rd innning, as Bailea Robinson finished the scoring with a 2 RBI double that reached the fence, scoring Jordyn Portis and Miranda Moore, adding to two earlier runs in the inning who scored on errors by the Wolves.

The Scotties will await word from the NCAA about their regional site.  More details on selection dates and times to follow soon.
