ATLANTA, Ga. – The Great South Athletics Conference announced the spring sports Players of the Week for contests played March 24 –30 and, following voting by the league sports information directors, Julia Blattner of Agnes Scott captured Softball Pitcher of the Week and the Scotties' Alyssa Millikin earned Softball Player of the Week.
GSAC Softball Pitcher of the Week – Julia Blattner of Agnes Scott
Junior pitcher Julia Blattner (pictured at right) started two of the four games played this week, completing both games. In a 9-1 win versus Wesleyan, Blattner pitched 5 innings, with 2 hits, no runs, 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. In a 9-4 win versus Hendrix, Blattner pitched 7 innings, with 7 hits, 4 runs, 2 earned runs, 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. For the week, Blattner's accrued a 1.17 ERA. She also had a batting average of .462 with 6 hits and two of them doubles.
GSAC Softball Player of the Week – Alyssa Millikin of Agnes Scott
Junior Alyssa Millikin started all four contests this week in centerfield for the Scotties with zero errors. In the doubleheader wins against Wesleyan, Millikin went 5-for-8 with 2 stolen bases, 2 runs, 1 RBI and a batting average of .625. In the double-header versus Hendrix, Millikin went 5-for-7 (2 doubles) with 2 stolen bases, 4 runs, 4 RBIs and a batting average of .714. For the week, Millikin's batting average was .667, going 10-for-15 with zero strikeouts.

The GSAC sports information directors nominate Player of the Week candidates and then vote on the top two nominees in each sport as selected by the conference office. Player of the Week voting occurs on Tuesdays and the weekly announcement of the winners is released each Wednesday morning.
