ATLANTA, Ga. - The Great South Athletic Conference announced the spring sports week three Players of the Week on Wednesday morning and student-athletes from Agnes Scott, Covenant and Salem were selected as winners through exclusive voting by the league sports information directors.
Week 3 Softball Player of the Week - Salem College freshman third baseman Kierston Garner
Kierston Garner (pictured right taking a cut) of Danbury, N.C. hit .643 (9-for-14) with one double, 2 home runs, 6 runs batted in, 4 runs scored, 4 walks and a slugging percentage of 1.067 for the weekend. Defensively she had 15 Assist, 3 Put Outs and 1 Error for a fielding percentage of .947.
Week 3 Softball Pitcher of the Week – Covenant College sophomore pitcher Cori Hilt
Hilt (pitctured) threw 18.2 innings in Covenant's four games this week and had an earned run average of 4.12. The sophomore allowed two earned runs on six hits in seven innings in a 9-6 win over Concordia (MI). She then allowed three runs on seven hits in 4.1 innings in a 5-3 loss to Concordia. In a doubleheader at Truett-McConnell, Hilt started game one and allowed three earned runs in 6.1 innings before surrendering three runs on four hits in 1.0 inning in game two.

Week 3 Tennis Player of the Week – Agnes Scott senior Rachel Storz
Agnes Scott senior Rachel Storz remains undefeated this season at number one singles. She won 6-3, 6-3 against Katie Scott of Huntingdon on Wednesday. On Saturday morning she defeated Maggie Donoghue of Rhodes College 6-3, 6-0 and, later that afternoon, she defeated Andrea Akers of Salem College 6-0, 6-0. At number one doubles, Storz and teammate Alex Cadle defeated Huntingdon's number one doubles team 8-2 and defeated Salem's duo 8-1.

The GSAC sports information directors nominate Player of the Week candidates and then vote on the top two nominees in each sport as selected by the conference office. Player of the Week voting occurs on Tuesdays and the weekly announcement of the winners is released each Wednesday morning.
