ATLANTA, Ga.- As the calendar turns to April, the action on the diamond and tennis courts has heated up as the GSAC staged 10 softball games and 5 tennis matches this past week.
Among the tennis matches, only one included a battle of league foes as Spelman tennis (pictured) topped Covenant 8-1 to improve the Jaguars' record to 4-1 in league play, just back of undefeated Huntingdon. Spelman also dropped a non-league game to Clark Atlanta last week.
In addition to their match with Spelman, Covenant split non-conference tilts against Reinhardt (win) and Carson Newman (loss). From our nation's capital, Trinity Washington dropped their only match of the week to Penn State - Abington.
On the diamond, Agnes Scott secured the biggest victories of the week by sweeping Covenant in the only league action of the week. The Scotties took game one 9-7 and game two 10-0.
The other 8 softball games from last week featured Pine Manor and Trinity Washington as each struggled en route to posting an 0-4 record. The Gators couldn't get past Regis and Emmanuel while the Tigers struggled in their clashes against Washington Adventist and Notre Dame (Md.).
Huntingdon currently sits atop the GSAC softball standings at 4-0, just ahead of 4-1 Agnes Scott.
