GSAC Releases Fall Week 6 Players of the Week

The GSAC has announced the fall sports week six Players of the Week and, following voting by the league’s sports information directors, student-athletes from Agnes Scott, Salem and Wesleyan took home the awards.

GSAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week - Stephanie Verdi of Salem

Stephanie Verdi (pictured at right) was Salem College's top finisher for the third straight meet.  She completed the 5k course in 20:44, finishing 71st of 200 runners at the ESPN Walt Disney World Cross Country Classic. Stephanie was the second NCAA Division III runner to cross the line, missing the top spot by 7 seconds. She lead the Salem team to 15th of 24 teams, defeating three D-III, two D-II and three NAIA programs.

GSAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week – Leah McLeod of Wesleyan

Wesleyan freshman Leah McLeod helped lead the Pioneers to a 2-0 week with wins over Toccoa Falls College and Judson College.  She scored 4 goals on 9 shots on goal, and with her two goals scored in Saturday's win over Judson, she earned a spot atop the Pioneer's record books for goals scored in a season.  She has scored 12 goals in 11 matches thus far this season.
